FREDERICK COUNTY, M.d. (WJLA) - Frederick County Sheriff's Office has an individual in custody they believe is responsible for an alleged stabbing of a married couple at a church in Urbana.
At 7:45 p.m. Sunday, police received a phone call in regard to a stabbing at Anna Prayer Mountain Church in Maryland, a Korean prayer center, according to Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins.
An adult male was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple stab wounds. His wife was flown to a local hospital and is said to be in serious but stable condition.
As of the 10:45 p.m. press conference, the wife is supposed to undergo surgery at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
After the initial 911 call, the suspect, himself, called 911 and told authorities he would wait for police. When police arrived on the scene, he was there and taken into custody without force or incidence, Jenkins said in a press conference Sunday evening.
Identities of the couple have not been released.
The suspect is said to be a 30-year-old adult male of Asian decent from northern Virginia, and was allegedly living in the church for about a week, police say.
There was a congregation in place at the time of the stabbing. The number of people in attendance is still unknown.
Police say the suspect is currently being questioned.
The investigation is ongoing.
